Product overview
The carbonic acid meter is used to determine the content of calcium carbonate (calcite) and magnesium carbonate (dolomite) in samples of alkaline earth carbonates such as oil well cores or drill cuttings. Solve scaling problems caused by drilling fluid and water treatment processes. The data measured from the carbonic acid meter can help determine the appropriate chemical treatment method.
The principle of carbonic acid meter uses 10% hydrochloric acid to react with calcium carbonate and magnesium carbonate in a sealed reaction cup to form CO2. When CO2 is generated, the pressure of the pressure gauge will increase. In the calibration process, the calibration curve is established by reacting with pure hydrochloric acid, using reagent grade calcium carbonate, and by using a known weight of calcium carbonate reagent, the relationship between the amount and weight of calcium carbonate in the sample can be judged. Since each reaction cup is slightly different, this relationship is also different in each reaction cup. To obtain accurate results, calibration is necessary to obtain a calibration curve.
The calcium carbonate content of the soil is determined by the reaction of 1g of a dried soil sample with hydrochloric acid in a reaction cup. The measured pressure increase is then compared to the calibration curve to determine the total weight of calcium carbonate in the test sample.
